When I first learned that there were such things as vegetarians – back in the early 70’s – I thought to myself “I would surely starve to death”. At the time I was about 11 or 12 and ate corn on the cob, carrots and potatoes. Since then, I am now much older and wiser – or at least getting there – and I have been a pescatarian since I was 30. I was still having a difficult time including a wide variety of fruits and veggies – face it, there are things that you just don’t like. Fast forward a few more years and I was introduced to juicing. I’ll be honest, the experience started off a little weird, I was defaulting to the fruits and veggies that I liked so still having a hard time getting into the whole variety thing. I started looking for recipes to include the very healthy, but not so tasty stuff. I found some good ones, but all my juices ended up turning brown. They tasted good, but they were just gross looking and not very appetizing. Then I sutmbled across an article that sorted juices into color groups. Genius! That was the trick I was looking for. Now I am enjoying a fantastic variety of really powerful juices designed to cleanse and detox and address inflammation and all sorts of health concerns. The colors are vibrant, the variety is there, and the taste is dee – lish.
Here are a few examples of what works for me:
I used apples and cucumbers in most juices because they provide lots of juice and they taste great!
purple or red grapes
